Opening a new program
A new program has to be licensed, often accredited, enrolled with every payer and set up to bill. Each step depends on the one before it, and some take months. Planned as one project, they overlap where they can, and nothing waits on a step nobody started.
The order that gets you paid soonest
Every state and program is different. This is the usual shape of a launch, and the first thing we do is map it for yours.
Confirm the license you need
Which agency, which license type, and what has to be true of your building, staff and policies before you apply. This sets the timeline for everything else.
Set up the basics payers check
Organization NPI, tax ID, provider NPIs and CAQH profiles. These are quick, and having them right prevents months of rework later.
File for the license and prepare for inspection
Application, required policies and plans, and preparation for any state site visit.
Start accreditation, if your payers or funders require it
Some payers won't contract without accreditation, and some states require it for certain programs. Preparation can start while the license is pending.
Enroll with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers
Most payers need the license first. We submit as soon as each one's requirements are met and follow every application through.
Set up billing and send the first claim
Payer setup, electronic payments and a claim workflow, timed to each payer's effective date.
What makes launches run late
- Waiting for the license before starting anything else
- An address, name or tax ID that doesn't match across the state, CMS and payers
- Missing policies discovered at inspection
- Payer panels that are closed in your area, found out after months of waiting
- Billing set up before effective dates are confirmed
